Me and my girl and boy, raising awareness and acceptance of autism

Sometimes I feel I’m being over-whelmed by forms and paperwork for D.

The diagnosis, the statement process, the medical reports, the buggy hire, the school reports, the forms to be filled in for DLA etc.

Everything started off in plastic inserts in a folder, neatly labelled. Folder one grew to two folders and it’s now moved to a storage box, in plastic wallets.

I was looking through for something today – an OT report for the OT at school who should have a copy, but doesn’t.

And then I picked up the book that D had been reading this morning. Properly reading. Most mornings if she’s already awake, she’s reading one of her books and that makes me so proud.

I glanced through the book and saw this on the last page.

I’m not normally keen on T & D marking their books, apart from writing their names in the front, but I think I’ll make an exception this time. Capital letters and a full stop *beams*.

The book was this one – by the way – a nice little story about a little girl learning to share (which is a rarity with a child with autism).

Just picked me up for the rest of the day and I felt like sharing.

Thanks for reading, comments/RTs as ever welcomed Jx 😘

  1. It’s the little things like this that get us through all the forms and meetings, professionals and just the day that is the day in the life of a special family x

    • Definitely is… Anyone else would be “So?”, but it is the little positive things that get us SN parents through everything else, thanks v much for reading 🙂
