#Competition – Win one of three games for a VTech Storio – closing date 03.02.2013

Today’s competition is to win one of three games for a VTech Storio (the prize does not include a Storio).

When D was learning to read, she would not read phonetically (school wanted her to but she wouldn’t/couldn’t) she still doesn’t. She seems to memorise the words once heard and seen. I blogged about our experience here.

Here’s a Storio:

Taking the games one by one:

Game A – Mr Messy and the Missing Sock, 3-5 years

Game B – Dora and the Three Little Pigs, 3-5 years

Game C – Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, 5-7 years

All the games are unwrapped, still in their packaging.

Terms and conditions;
If you would like a chance to win one of the three games, please:
Retweet this post
AND either leave a comment saying which game you’d prefer (A, B or C and the title) or tweet “I’ve entered @AutismMumma’s Storio competition and either A, B or C”

The prize does not include a Storio console. Entries are restricted to UK only and the closing date and time is 10am on 3rd February 2013. The games will be posted out shortly after that via recorded delivery.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

Time Timer – Product Review and free app offer

(Update: App codes now all claimed)

An issue for my children when together is sharing, I’m sure it’s the same for many people.

T, in particular, has an extremely “competitive, must must do better/finish this” edge which can be draining to attempt to manage.

We use giant sand timers at home but as they are only 1 minute, 5 minute, 10 minute and 30 minutes they can be quite restrictive in their use.

This is where Time Timers have been invaluable this school holiday. The company has an American site and a European distributor, and it was the European branch that sent me some timers to trial.

Here’s the timers, they can either be free-standing or wall-mounted:

The timers are very easy to use and extremely visual, which is a great benefit for special needs children. There is a choice of an audible sound (not too loud) when the time period is over, or relying on the visual alone. Although the sound is not adjustable – merely an one/off switch – it is not loud enough to cause distress.

D has engaged straight-away with the idea that these are used to measure an amount of time on the Wii/trampoline/amount of time before meals etc.

(App codes all claimed now, thanks.)

Now the app code giveaway:
Time Timer have very kindly issued me with five free codes for their app.

If you would like to receive a free code then please:
*RT this blog post
*And then send me a DM saying you would like a code (you will obviously need to be following me)
*Tweet “I’d like a TimeTimer code from @AutismMumma”

The codes are only valid for a few days and I only have 5, so don’t delay!

Thanks for reading Jx 😘

Win a Green Snuddleuppet competition – NOW CLOSED

Thanks for all your entries, the winner is @dave41scot. Hope your girls enjoy the Snuggleuppet!
(Scroll down for pictures)

D loves her Snuggleuppets, she has the purple monkey and the pink poodle.

Perfect for snuggling into and wrapping around herself when she needs some sensory regulation/comfort. We also use them as a puppet when she’s feeling anxious/miserable and their expressionless faces make it easier for her to respond.

This competition is to win a green crocodile Snuddleuppet.

As you can see from the pictures it’s unwrapped.

Terms and conditions:
If you would like a chance to win please:
Retweet this post
AND either leave a comment saying that you’d like to win or tweet “I’ve entered @AutismMumma’s snuggleuppet #competition”

Entries are restricted to UK only and the closing date is 10am on 20th January 2013. The winning entry will be notified after the closing date and the Snuggleuppet will be posted out shortly afterward via recorded delivery.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

Competition now closed, thanks to everyone that entered.

All the names went into a hat:

T picked the winner, congratulations Dave!

Can we join Team Skylanders please

These are T (age 10) and D’s (age 8.5) entries for the Team Skylander competition, being run by Tots100.

T’s entry is “Fire Hood”.
A good wizard with the following powers:
Uses his wand to launch flames of fire;
Burns enemies in front of him and
Sends minions of himself and attacks enemies.

D’s is “Bombing Bunny”
In D’s words “she shoots carrot bombs and when they reach the ground they explode” (readers of my blog will be very familiar with Bunny!)

They would be overjoyed to be picked and assist in reviewing future toys and games!
