The “Olym-pigs” torch relay – by our roving reporter T

The “Olym- pigs” torch relay started today and ended today.
The relay passed by different sections of our house with our guinea pig torch bearer (Bungle) ending an awesome event for guinea pigs. The relay started in our downstairs hall ending at the same place.

It took around a few minutes to complete until we finished the relay, one day before the main event starts. Meanwhile, the other guinea pigs (George and Zippy) both had a part SQUEAKING!

The guinea pigs are at the moment training for the event, with the Gold medal meal (Banana), the Silver medal meal ( Cucumber) and the Bronze medal meal (Carrot) gleaming in their eyes.

The10m gold is looking likely for gold for Zippy.

The crawling up the cage event is looking likely for gold for George.

The sprint event is looking likely for gold for Bungle.

Anyway here’s Bungle carrying the torch…….

(this is T’s first blog, he’s going to be adding to the daily blog with a 9year old/guinea pigs’ view on the London 2012 games. I’m sure he’d love comments! Thanks Jx 😘)

  1. It’s good to know that guinea pigs can join in. Excellent report!

  2. Whee are going to be doing some Olym-Pig events on our guinea pig blog too! Great minds think alike! 😉

I LOVE the Olympigs. They have to watch that they don’t singe their fur.

    • Lol, thanks Jim. Don’t worry they’ve got their little “medals” to eat. There’ll be more “torch relay” pics later on the blog. Very proud of T for writing his first post 🙂

  4. Hi I’m 1funkid my mom showed me your blog post. The story about the giniepigs was pretty funny, I can’t wait for the next one! How did you found a torch that small? Thanks for writing.

    • From T:
The torches came from amazon and can also be brought in John Lewis. There’ll be more pictures on my mums blog. Thanks for reading.

What a great idea .. looks like great fun !

  6. Bungle looks very proud of his role as torch bearer!! Good start T x x

  7. I love this idea T. We have a hamster named Sophie who is a littl jealous she didnt think to train for any Olympic events herself.
We might be willing to give her a medal, but first she has to get up and get moving. What do you think would be an appropriate prize for a hamster? Carrot, grape? What do you think? I look forward to your guest posts. (I like reading your moms too. You are both great writers. Go T!)

  8. Lovely post, made me laugh – was hoping to bring some nice readers your way by featuring your post on Twitter but phrased it badly – sorry you thought otherwise! Best wishes x

    • Thank you. It upset me that you referred to it as “spam”, bearing in mind it was my son’s first ever blog post. We are continuing the theme daily, first event today 🙂

  9. That was a great idea, and a well written story. However, I won’t suggest it to my Son, I’m not sure our cats are quite as interested in playing his games as he would like them to be and I’m afraid in terms of guinea pigs I rank in the mean mummy camp as he would love Guinea pigs, but I’m not so keen. Lovely story and enjoy the Olympics.

    • Thanks, we will do. I know what you mean….it’s good old me who cleans them out etc. Our cats would win the gold medal for sleeping! X
