Sunday 11th March

I was still ill today – joint ache, bone ache and alternating between being very hot and shivering. T decided that the only way to keep me warm was to put 5 (yes, 5) blankets on me. I felt like the “Princess & the Pea” story – I know that was mattresses but I felt similar to the pea!

Both T and D used this as a good excuse to frequently leap on me (ouch).

Routines were kept to today but at a much slower pace.

Only two meltdowns for D today and that was two too many, to be honest.

T and D played with puppets this pm, I bought these as they were very similar to the birds in Rio, her favourite film. The puppet play seemed to involve the birds fighting the majority of the time.

For my D – A Poem

Lauren (@AutismMums_Dads) asked today if anyone had any poems to share, this is one I wrote:

“From the moment you were placed upon my tum,
No doubt about it, I was your mum.

My love for you will never falter,
You are my D, my buddy, my daughter.

Certain situations can make you cause a “scene”,
That’s the “thing” about autism, it cannot be seen.

Don’t pre-judge the situation, look at the carer,
Am I shouting right back – or trying to calm her?

Instead of staring, look at my D and smile,
I’m here raising autism awareness…I might be a while.”

A Birthday MeMe

No, it’s not my birthday today, but I was tagged into a fun MeMe, I thought I would join in. I’d love it if you did too.

Here goes….

1. When is your birthday?

My birthday is on April 9th, which this year will fall on Easter Monday. As you will know from yesterdays Kreativ tagging blog, I was six weeks premature so should have been born around end May.

April 9th is the 99th day of the year – 100th in leap years – in the Gregorian calendar.

1954 – actor Dennis Quaid – the ending of Inner Space always makes me cry, it’s very mushy.

1963 – American fashion designer Marc Jacobs – always wear his Daisy perfume (have a bottle of Lola too)

1966 – American actress Cynthia Nixon – best known for Sex In The City.

3. Is anyone listed as being born on the same day as you, in the same year? If so, what do you know about them?

The only “famous” person listed, I’d never heard of.

But had I been born closer to my due date I could have shared a birthday with C (May 8th), D (May 20th) or my wedding anniversary (May 30th). May is an expensive month!

2 popes died on April 9th:
Year 715 – Pope Constantine
Year 1024 – Pope Benedict VIII
And
Year 1962 – Zip the Pinhead died, an American side show performer. I’ve chosen him as his name made me laugh.

1966 – Funeral of Martin Luther King Junior
1969 – Concorde 002 made its maiden flight from Filton to RAF Fairford
2002 – Funeral of Elizabeth, the Queen Mother
2005 – civil wedding ceremony of Charles, Prince of Wales to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall at Windsor’s Guildhall.
